The fourteenth session of the Human Rights Council’s Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Working Group commenced its work in Geneva’s Palais des Nations on 22 October 2012. UPR serves as the key mechanism of the Council that regularly reviews all the UN Member States’ commitments in the sphere of human rights.
Agenda of the session includes reviews of 14 countries: the Czech Republic, Argentina, Gabon, Ghana, Guatemala, Benin, the Republic of Korea, Switzerland, Pakistan, Zambia, Japan, Peru, Sri Lanka and Ukraine.
The delegation of Ukraine headed by the Government Agent before the European Court of Human Rights Mr. Nazar Kulchytskyi and composed of the representatives of relevant Ukrainian authorities, takes part in the Working Group session.
Presentation and consideration of the National Report of Ukraine to the Working Group on UPR is scheduled for 24 October 2012.
