Within the framework of participation of the delegation of Ukraine in the 2012 year’s session of Conference on Disarmament (CD), the Head of Ukrainian delegation, Permanent representative of Ukraine in Geneva Ambassador Mykola Maimeskul made a statement on 27 March 2012.

Ambassador Maimeskul highlighted our countries nuclear non-proliferation initiatives. In this context he reported that on March 22, 2012 Ukraine fully implemented the commitment to renounce the use of the HEU in civil nuclear research facilities and to get rid of all the HEU stocks on the eve of the Seoul Nuclear Security Summit, taking place these days.
Also, in his speech he addressed several issues of the CD’s agenda that Ukraine considers to be of particular importance, namely, the provision of the non-nuclear-weapon states with the effective security assurances.
