Today, May 21 2012 the Sixty-fifth session of the World Health Assembly starts its activities in Palais des Nations in Geneva.
The Assembly will consider a number of pressing issues in health sector, in particular Millennium Development Goals relating to health issues, prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases etc. The Health Assembly will also discuss the programme budget, administration and management matters of World health organization (WHO).
The nomination of Dr Margaret Chan to be WHO Director-General for a second term will be submitted for approval. Upon the results of its work the Assembly will take a number of decisions and resolutions.
The event is attended by delegations of over 180 members of the World Health Organization, most of which are represented at the ministerial level. Delegation of Ukraine is headed by Vice-Prime-Minister, Mister of Health of Ukraine Raisa Bogatyrova.
The Assembly will work till May 26 2012.
