The Standing Committees of the Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production and Transfer of Anti-Personnel Mines and on Their Destruction (Ottawa Treaty) hold their meetings on 21-25 May 2012 in Geneva.
This annual event involved representatives from States Parties to the Convention and observer countries, as well as a number of international and nongovernmental organizations.
The Standing Committees will discuss issues related to the universalization of the Convention and the state of implementation of its provisions for the destruction of stockpiles of landmines and clearing of mined areas and will also assess progress in achieving the aims of Cartagena Action Plan.
Ukraine is represented at these meetings by the delegation, which is headed by H.E. Mr. Mykola Maimeskul, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN Office and other International Organizations in Geneva, and includes experts from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and State Space Agency of Ukraine.
