On May 22 the Vice-Prime-Minister, Minister of Health of Ukraine Raisa Bogatyr’ova ended her visit to Geneva within the framework of the 65th Session of the World Health Assembly (WHA) as the Head of Ukrainian delegation.
During her visit Vice-Prime-Minister has signed a two-year Agreement on cooperation between the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the European Regional Office of the World Health Organization 2012-2013.
Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine took part in the general discussion during the plenary session of the Assembly. In her speech she touched upon the problems of prevention and control of non-communicable diseases, having outlined the steps taken by the National Government to reduce mortality from these diseases.
Dr Bogatyr’ova met with Ministers of Health of a number of countries, during which issues of current bilateral cooperation were discussed. In particular she met with the Minister of Health and Human Services of the USA and the Minister of Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia. During these meeting she was inter alia invited to visit the United States of America and Georgia in the near future.
Experts of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the UN Office in Geneva continue their participation in the 65th session of the WHA which will last until May 26.
