On June 10 – 21, 2019 the 108th session of the International Labour Conference (ILC) - senior executive forum of the International Labour Organization (ILO), devoted to the 100th Anniversary of the ILO, is taking place in Geneva.
Opening the session, G.Ryder, ILO Director-General noted, among other matters, that the issues of social protection, sustainable development and social dialogue in order to build a better society and eradicate discrimination remain the key priorities of the ILO.
The tripartite delegation of Ukraine, headed by A.Reva, Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine takes part in the ILC session.
On June 18, 2019, during the general debates, Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine made a statement in which he underscored, in particular, the need, in connection with ILO’s 100th Anniversary, of further search by the international community of effective instruments for the formation of a favorable future of work; emphasized on the ongoing efforts of the Ukrainian Government aimed at raising the average and minimum wages, ensuring fair distribution of the results of work, introduction of professional standards; stressed upon the efforts of the Government of Ukraine to adapt the national legislation to international standards and to cultivate the principles of social dialogue, as well as outlined the current trends of the modern labor market in our country. Additionally, attention was drawn to the negative impact of the Russian aggression on the socio-labor and economic situation of the population, living on the temporarily occupied by Russia territories of Ukraine.
In the framework of the participation of the Ukrainian delegation in this year’s ILC session A.Revа also had a meeting with H.Koller, Regional Director of the ILO Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia, during which prevailing issues of cooperation between Ukraine and the International Labour Organization were discussed.
