3 October 2013 Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Konstantyn Gryshchenko held the meeting with the Secretary General of UNCTAD Mr. Mukhisa Kituyi.
Bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and UNCTAD within the framework of the Competition Policy Peer Review, performed by UNCTAD's experts on the request of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine was discussed during the meetings. Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine has informed the Secretary General of UNCTAD that the Peer Review contributed to the finalization of the ten-year National Program of Competition Development which was adopted by the Government of Ukraine on 21 August 2013.
The Secretary General of UNCTAD positively estimated the bilateral partnership, particularly in the sphere of competition development. He underlined the broad possibilities for further cooperation within the framework of innovation policy and culture. Mr. Mukhisa Kituyi emphasized, that the UNCTAD can provide the platform for discussions of the post-2015 Agenda. In this regard, he expressed the interest to cooperate with Ukraine in the sphere of development as Ukraine represents the "human face of development".
Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine congratulated the Secretary-General of UNCTAD on his appointment on this post and invited him to visit Ukraine. He expressed the willingness to of the Government of Ukraine to provide the support for UNCTAD's initiatives and emphasized that Ukraine is open to the international recommendations and advice.
