The General Council meeting within the framework of the appointment process for the post of the next Director-General of WTO ) takes place in Geneva from 29 to 31 January 2013.

Nine WTO member states (Brazil, Korea, Indonesia, Mexico, Jordan, Kenya, New Zealand, Costa-Rica and Ghana) have presented their candidatures for this post. Candidates will make a brief presentation, including their vision for the WTO, and will answer member's questions, including those of Ukraine, during the question-and-answer session.

The decision on the appointment of the new Director-General of WTO is planned to be made and announced during the General Council meeting, which would take place not later, then May 31, 2013.

The participation of the delegation of Ukraine in the work of the session is provided by the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva.
