The Executive Body for the Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution holds its 31st session in Geneva on 11-13 December 2012. There are more than 50 UNECE member-states’ representatives participating in the event. Ukrainian Party is being represented by experts from the Ministry of ecology and natural resources of Ukraine as well as by the Permanent Mission.
During the meeting delegations will review a progress in the implementation of the 2012-2013 workplan which includes inter alia issues of strategies and policies, Steering Body to the Cooperative Programme for Monitoring and Evaluation of the Long-range Transmission of Air Pollutants in Europe, effects of major air pollutants on human health and the environment. Then, the situation around a compliance with the Convention’s protocols will be examined. And the action plan for the countries of Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia and capacity-building activities with economies in transition are to be discussed.
Elections of officers to the Convention’s organs, financial requirements for the implementation of the Convention and other points are on the agenda.
