President: Ukraine sees its future in Europe

Ukraine sees its future in the European Union and seeks to become a full-fledged EU member, President Viktor Yanukovych said at a session of the World Economic Forum titled "The Future of Eurasia."

The President said that EU membership is crucial for democracy, economic prosperity, personal freedoms and well-being of every citizen of Ukraine.

The President called year 2011 fruitful in the context of European integration of Ukraine. He reminded that the Association Agreement negotiations, including the provisions of deep and comprehensive free trade area, were announced complete last year.

Meanwhile, the President said, one of the priorities of Ukraine's foreign policy is to extend the geography of our international relations and establish cooperation with new partners on all continents, especially in Asia.

Viktor Yanukovych also stressed that Ukraine remains a reliable partner in energy sphere, which meets its obligations fully.
