On November 24 - 27, 2015 the 106th session of the Council of International Organization for Migration is taking place in Geneva. Representatives of more than 100 member-states, observers, international organizations (UNHCR, ILO, WHO, ICRC, Council of Europe, African Union, OIF, World Bank and others) attend the event.
Participants of the session are discussing the migration processes in the world, achievements of the countries in combating illegal migration, the program of activities of the Organization as well as proposals of the delegations regarding the strengthening of IOM's role.
Permanent Representative of Ukraine, Ambassador Y.Klymenko in his statement commended IOM activities, in particular, the implementation of its projects in our country aimed, first of all, to assist internally displaced persons (IDPs). The attention was drawn to the root causes of appearance of IDPs in our country - illegal occupation with annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and disruptive actions carried out by illegal armed groups in the territory of Luhansk and Donetsk regions, supported from abroad. The participants were informed about the steps undertaken by the Ukrainian authorities to address the problems of displaced persons and called upon for continuing assistance to our country to overcome the humanitarian challenges, especially at the winter time.
