On April 14, 2015 the 66th biennial session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) started its work in the Geneva Palais des Nations. This session will be conducted in the form of the High-level segment “Commiting to action on sustainable development in times of change” and the General segment.
At the High-level segment of the 66th session the following main issues are discussed:
- sustainable energy and resilient communities;
- sustainable management of ecosystems and natural resources;
- connectivity and competitiveness for sustainable lives;
- measuring and monitoring sustainable development;
- partnering for sustainable development.
Within the General segment the implementation of the Outcome of the review of the 2005 reform of the UNECE as well as the Report on activities of the Executive Committee of the UNECE will be considered.
A new management of the UNECE for the next two-years period will be elected during the session.
The participation of the Ukrainian side in the 66th session is ensured by the Permanent Mission of Ukraine in Geneva.
