These questions, as stressed in his speech during the ongoing 28th session of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) Permanent Representative of Ukraine in Geneva Yurii Klymenko, echo those being raised by our country throughout the year, since the illegal occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea by our neighboring country and its invasion of Donbas:
- Will Russia stop oppression of Crimea’s population, particularly Crimean Tatars and ethnic Ukrainians?
- Why so cynically and hastily were residents of Crimea forced into Russian citizenship and deprived of their rights as Ukrainian citizens?
- Will someone be brought to accountability for unlawful detention in Russian jails of Ukrainian citizens, including Nadiya Savchenko?
- When will Russia stop backing, arming and controlling militants’ groups in the Donbas and finally start implementing Minsk agreements?
But these and other questions are left unanswered by the aggressor, that habitually resorts to its favorite weapon in this undeclared war - propaganda - said Y.Klymenko.
Ukrainian representative called upon Russia to stop the information war waged against the whole world and even against its own people, who are impelled to live in an atmosphere of repression and hatred, where nationalist euphoria and the crime of aggression are glorified and human rights are neglected.
The 28th session of the HRC will continue until 27 March, 2015.
