On 29 September 2014 the delegation of Ukraine headed by M.Strikha, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine took part in the celebrations on the occasion of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN)’s 60^th anniversary. Prof. R.Heuer, Director-General of CERN and other prominent representatives of the Organization as well as the delegates of the countries-members of CERN gave speeches on the history, current achievements and significance of CERN for the global scientific community.

Besides, on September 30, 2014 the bilateral meeting of the Ukrainian delegation with the Director-General of CERN was held. The priorities for further cooperation between Ukraine and mentioned Organization have been discussed. In this context M.Strikha informed about the steps being taken by our country to ensure the implementation of the Agreement between Ukraine and CERN concerning the granting Ukraine of the status of associate member in the Organization and underlined the interest of Ukraine to intensify the cooperation with CERN. For his part, R.Heuer expressed willingness for further fruitful interaction between the institution led by him and our country.
