On June 27, 2014 Mr. Yurii Klymenko, Permanent Representative of Ukraine met with Mr. Rudolf Muller, Deputy Head of the Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (ОСНА) in Geneva.

Ambassador of Ukraine positively evaluated the state and prospects of the cooperation with OСНA, in particular with its Office in Geneva, and appreciated the assistance provided by OCHA with regard to the natural disasters that had occurred in recent years in Ukraine, evacuation of the Ukrainian citizens from Syria as well as in the framework of the program of the liquidation of the Chernobyl nuclear accident’s consequences.

During the meeting parties discussed issues of further development of Ukraine`s cooperation with OCHA, particularly in the context of objective and comprehensive assessment of the humanitarian situation in the Eastern Ukraine and on the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, including within OCHA involvement in the activities of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine. Mr. Muller was informed about the Government’s efforts to settle the situation in the Eastern Ukraine in the framework of the Peace plan of President of Ukraine P.Poroshenko.

          Due to the international certification of the Ukrainian Search and Rescue team of the State Enterprise “The Mobile Rescue Center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine” in the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG), planned for the end of June 2014, Mr. Muller’s attention was drawn to the importance of adherence to the previously defined term of the certification and ensuring full participation of all experts of the international assessment team.
