On April 23, 2014 the Permanent Representative of Ukraine Ambassador Yurii Klymenko met with the current President of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC), Permanent Representative of the Gabonese Republic Ambassador Baudelaire Ndong Ella.
An exchange of views on the HRC activities and participation of the delegation of Ukraine in the Council’s work with an emphasis on the importance of paying due attention to the current situation in our country, especially to its human rights dimension, took place.
Mr. Ndong Ella was provided with updated information on the developments in Crimea and in the southeast of our country, from the viewpoint of human rights protection and observance of minorities’ rights, as well as on efforts being taken by the Ukrainian authorities to resolve the crisis caused by the military intervention of Russia in Ukraine.
The HRC President, on his part, accentuated the importance of objective data presented by the Ukrainian side and assured on his readiness for constructive cooperation, including within the upcoming 26th HRC session to be held in Geneva this June.
