On February 26 Mr. Yurii Klymenko, Permanent Representative of Ukraine met with Mrs. Mariangela Zappia, Head of the European Union Delegation to the UN and other International Organizations in Geneva.

An exchange of views on the topical issues of interaction of the Mission of Ukraine and the EU Delegation in the framework of the international organizations based in Geneva, first of all, Human Rights Council, in the context of the preparation of its 25^th session to be held on March 3-28, 2014, took place.

Y.Klymenko informed about the recent developments in Ukraine, steps taken by the Ukrainian leadership directed at the final settlement of the crisis in our country, the processes of creating a new parliamentary majority and the government of national trust. At the same time he stressed on the commitment of the current Ukrainian authorities to further rapid advancement of Ukraine along the road of European integration, meanwhile expressing his expectation for appropriate support of the Ukrainian efforts in this direction by the European Union. Moreover, Permanent Representative of Ukraine called for prompt provision of the effective financial and technical assistance for our country by the EU to improve the economic situation and implement needed reforms.

M.Zappia, on her part, emphasized the importance of early normalization of the situation in the country, ensuring the effective functioning of the executive branch for the interests of the citizens of Ukraine. She assured the proper support of Ukraine's course towards European integration and recognized the urgency of timely provision of necessary assistance to our state for overcoming the existing challenges.
