On February 25 Mr. Yurii Klymenko, Permanent Representative of Ukraine met with Mr. Michael Møller, Acting Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Attention was paid to the development of the political situation in Ukraine. Y.Klymenko informed about the Ukrainian authorities’ efforts directed at the final settlement of the crisis in Ukraine, further democratization of the Ukrainian society and the processes of creating a new parliamentary majority in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine as well as the formation of a government of national trust. At the same time he stressed on the importance of the international community’s support, in particular of the United Nations, in guaranteeing the territorial integrity of our state and providing it with effective and timely financial assistance.
Director-General of the UN Office positively appraised current processes in Ukraine and expressed readiness to facilitate the provision by the UN system institutions based in Geneva of a necessary support for improving the economic situation in the country.
Permanent Representative of Ukraine confirmed consistent course of Ukraine towards European integration and its interest in soonest signing of the Association Agreement with the EU.
Moreover, the cooperation in organizing of the exhibition dedicated to the 200-th anniversary of the birth of Taras Shevchenko in the Palais des Nations (March 24 - April 11, 2014) was considered.
