On January 21, 2013 The Conference on Disarmament (CD) started the first part of its 2013 session under the Presidency of the Permanent Representative of Israel, Ambassador E.Manor.
First part of this year’s session of the CD will last until March 28, 2014. Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya and Malaysia will also hold the presidency during 2014.
During the plenary meeting the Conference adopted its agenda for 2014 and a list of observer states which will take part in this year's session.
As in previous years, the core items on the agenda of the Conference in 2014 will be nuclear disarmament, fissile materials, negative security assurances and prevention of arms race in outer space.
Ukrainian delegation is headed by the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva H.E. Mr. Yurii Klymenko.
