Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN Office and other International Organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Mykola Maimeskul held a meeting with High Commissioner for Human Rights N.Pilley. During the meeting they discussed main results of Ukraine's cooperation with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and priorities for the future cooperation.
N.Pilley noted an active stand of Ukraine in the international human rights cooperation. In her view, the implementation of Ukraine's initiative on strengthening the role of prevention in the promotion and protection of human rights, including the Human Rights Council consensus resolution - the third HRC decision of this kind since 2010, - adopted by HRC last September, plays an important role in strengthening the capacity of the international community to prevent human rights violations in a comprehensive manner.
M.Maymeskul stressed that human rights are a key element of the reforms and steps undertaken by the Government of Ukraine toward European integration. He highly evaluated results of the cooperation of Ukraine with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the fields of providing technical assistance and expert support.
