The 24^th session of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) commences its work at the Palais des Nations in Geneva on 9 September 2013.

During the 3-week session the Council will hear presentations from 19 mandate holders of the HRC Special procedures, in particular, reports by the Commission on Inquiry on Syria and by the Commission on Inquiry on DPRK, and will convene a number of interactive discussions on pressing human rights issues.

Besides, the Council will hold general debates on human rights situations that require the Council’s attention, and will also approve the outcomes of the Universal Periodic Reviews of the 14 countries reviewed in April-May 2013, and will take action on the decisions and resolutions before it.

The delegation of Ukraine, headed by the Permanent Representative of Ukraine in Geneva Ambassador Mykola Maimeskul, participates in the work of the session as an observer with the main task – to run follow-up Council’s resolution “The role of prevention in the promotion and protection of human rights”.
