Today, May 20th 2013 the Sixty-sixth session of the World Health Assembly starts its activities in Palais des Nations in Geneva. The event is attended by delegations of over 180 members of the World Health Organization, most of which are represented at the ministerial level. Delegation of Ukraine is headed by the Mister of Health of Ukraine Raisa Bogatyrova.
At the beginning of the session Ukraine was elected a Vise President representing European region. Within the framework of the session the Minister held meetings with the WHO Director-General as well as the Director of the WHO European Office, during which further development of bilateral cooperation was discussed.
The Assembly will consider a number of pressing issues in health sector, in particular prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases, etc. The Health Assembly will also discuss the programme budget and the ongoing reformation of World health organization (WHO).
The Assembly will work till May 28th.
