The sixty-fifth biennial session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe started its work on 9 April, 2013, in the Geneva Palais des Nations. This session will be conducted in the form of High-level segment “Enabling the shift to a sustainable future” and General segment. At the High-level segment, organized in form of three panels, country member representatives will be discussed two main issues: follow-up to Rio+20 and post-2015 development agenda, and economic developments and challenges in the ECE region: the role of innovation in creating a dynamic and competitive economy.
Within the General segment there will be discussed and approved, inter alia, the Outcome of the review of the 2005 reform of ECE, the Report on activities of the Executive Committee of the ECE as well as there will be an election of new management of ECE for the next two-years period.
The Ukrainian delegation at the 65th session of the UNECE is headed by Mr. M.Maimeskul, Permanent representative of Ukraine to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva.
