The 22nd regular session of the UN Human Rights Council commenced its work at the Palais des Nations in Geneva on 25 February 2013 by the High-Level Segment with participation of over 80 ministers and other senior dignitaries.
During the 4-week session participants will address through interactive dialogues, general debates and panel discussions actual human rights issues including tortures, arbitrary detentions, enforced disappearances, sale of and violence against children, human rights and counter-terrorism, minorities’ rights, right to food, freedom of religion or belief.
The situation of human rights in Syria, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Myanmar, Iran, Mali and situation with Israeli settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory will also be reviewed.
The Council will consider from 13 to 15 March the final outcomes of Universal Periodic Reviews of a number of States including Ukraine.
The delegation Ukraine, headed by the Permanent Representative of Ukraine in Geneva Ambassador Mykola Maimeskul, participates in the work of the session as an observer.
