In the framework of his participation in the 43rd session of the Human Rights Council’s High-Level Segment, the Minster for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vadym Prystaiko had a meeting with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Michele Bachelet. The current issues of cooperation between the Government of Ukraine and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), in particular in the context of activities of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine and implementation of the resolutions of the UN General Assembly 74/168 “Situation of human rights in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, Ukraine”, as well as of the Human Rights Council 41/25 “Cooperation with and assistance to Ukraine in the field of human rights”, were discussed.
Vadym Prystaiko stressed on the importance of reflecting in the OHCHR reports of the full and objective human rights situation in Ukraine, primarily on its temporarily occupied territories.
The special attention was paid to the fate of the Ukrainian citizens, illegally detained by Russia, the updated list of whom had been recently transmitted to the OHCHR. Michele Bachelet assured that the OHCHR has been closely following the situation with the Ukrainian detainees, and the Office will take all possible steps for their release.
