On September 28 – 30, 2020, the Meetings of Experts of States Parties to Protocols II and V of the Convention on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Certain Conventional Weapons Which May Be Deemed to Be Excessively Injurious or to Have Indiscriminate Effects (CCW) take place in Geneva.

During the events participants discuss issues related to the universalization and implementation of these international instruments, as well as improvement of the methods and ways of increasing the efficiency of demining operations, management of safe ammunition storage, clearance operations of territories contaminated with explosive remnants of war (ERW) and improvised explosive devices (IEDs), enhancing prevention, preparedness and response to large-scale threats connected to the use of this type of weaponry. 

The delegation of Ukraine headed by the Permanent Representative of Ukraine in Geneva Y.Klymenko has informed about the implementation of the CCW and its Protocols at national level and, having highlighted the problem of existence in Ukraine, as the result of the Russian aggression, of vast territories contaminated with ERW and IEDs, has appealed to the international community to continue providing effective assistance to our country in disposing of explosive remnants.
