110th session of the Council of the International Organization for Migration was held in Geneva

On November 26 – 29, 2019 the 110th session of the Council of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) took place in Geneva, being attended by representatives of 173 Member States, IOM observers, as well as international organizations, including NGOs.

At the opening of the session IOM Director General Mr. António Vitorino addressed the audience, outlining key issues of global migration crises, the functioning and operational activities of the IOM, cooperation with other partners and the establishment of the UN Migration Network in the context of the implementation of the Global Compact on Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration.

Participants of the session discussed the general trends in migration processes in the world, the results of the IOM's work in 2019 and its plans for the next year, approved Lebanon's application for membership in the Organization and the reports of the work of the standing committees of the IOM, attended the launching of the World Migration Report 2020, as well as agreed to create a Working Group to study the initiative of the Director-General regarding the strengthening of the senior leadership structure of the IOM.

Ukraine at the Council's annual session was represented by the members of the Permanent Mission in Geneva.
