On May 28 – June 8, 2018 the 107th session of the International Labour Conference (ILC), senior executive forum of the International Labour Organization (ILO), is taking place in Geneva.
Opening the session, G.Ryder, ILO Director-General stressed that the issues of social protection, sustainable development and social dialogue in order to build a better society and eradicate discrimination remain the key priorities of the ILO.
The tripartite delegation of Ukraine, headed by A.Reva, Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine, takes part in the ILC session.
On June 6, 2018, during the general debates, Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine underscored, in particular, the ongoing work of the Ukrainian authorities on the implementation of comprehensive socio-economic reforms, including the pension reform, brining the national labor legislation of Ukraine up to the international norms and standards, including by implementing provisions of ILO Convention 102 on minimal social norms and ensuring equal social-labor rights of men and women without discrimination, as well as noted the Government’s persistent efforts to address the problems of social protection of more than 1.5 million IDPs, emerged as a result of Russian aggression against our country. A.Reva expressed gratitude for ILO’s technical and expert assistance to develop and implement the mentioned reforms, as well as hope for ILO’s further facilitation in overcoming by Ukraine its current socio-economic challenges.
In the framework of the participation of the Ukrainian delegation in this year’s ILC session A.Revа also had a meeting with G.Ryder, Director General of the ILO, during which the Head of the said international organization was informed about the latest achievements of Ukraine in pursuing socio-economic policy, including in the context of strengthening and extending of the labor inspection system in our country. It was also agreed to further develop cooperation in specific areas, in particular as regards to the realisation of the pension reform. G.Ryder, positively noting improvements in Ukraine’s social sphere and efforts to lift the moratorium on labor inspection, assured of further support for Ukraine in making crucial transformations.
In addition, Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine had meetings with Heads of delegations of Lithuania, Croatia, Germany and Canada, during which topical issues of bilateral cooperation in the social-economic sphere were discussed.
