On October 3 – 7, 2016 the 67th session of the Executive Committee of the UN High Commissioner's for Refugees Programme is taking place in Geneva.
The event began with speeches by the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi, in which they, in particular, highlighted the significant deterioration over the past two years of the situation with the forced displacement of people in the world. However, they positively noted the intensification of international efforts to develop the necessary tools to address the problems of refugees and migrants.
Participants of the session are discussing issues related to the increasing emigration crises in the world, reviewing the current activities of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, revising the Biennial Program Budget for 2016 – 2017, as well as considering a wide range of problems in the sphere of refugee and migrant rights protection, and the refugee situation in different regions of the world.
The participation of the Ukrainian side in the event is ensured by the Permanent Mission of Ukraine in Geneva.
