On August 29 – September 02, 2016 the Meeting of States Parties to the Convention on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Certain Conventional Weapons Which May Be Deemed to Be Excessively Injurious or to Have Indiscriminate Effects (CCW) takes place in Geneva.
During the event its participants discuss issues related to the universalization, strengthening and implementation of the Convention, including in the context of preparation for the Fifth CCW Review Conference (December 12 – 16, 2016), as well as improvement of the methods and ways of increasing the efficiency of demining operations, management of safe ammunition storage, clearance operations of territories contaminated with explosive remnants of war (ERW), as well as providing assistance to their victims.
The delegation of Ukraine, which takes part in the mentioned event, informed about the international cooperation in implementing CCW Protocols at national level and, drawing attention to the problem of the emergence of new areas contaminated by ERW as the result of Russian aggression, appealed to the international community to continue providing effective assistance to our country in disposing of explosive remnants.
