On June 28-30, 2016 the 38th meeting of the Coordinating Board of the United Nations Joint Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) is taking place in Geneva.
The meeting is focused on the update of the UNAIDS 2016-2021 Unified Budget, Results and Accountability Framework; leadership in the AIDS response; civil society perspectives on the global response to AIDS; follow-up to the thematic segment from the 37th PCB meeting; update on strategic human resources management issues etc.
M.Sidibe, UNAIDS Executive Director during his speech stressed on the need to properly fund the AIDS response in order to end the epidemic by 2030. He also emphasized the importance of providing adequate HIV services to key populations.
This year’s thematic segment is devoted to the theme: “The role of communities in ending AIDS by 2030”.
The Ukrainian delegation in its speech has noted, in particular, the importance of the adoption of the Political Declaration on HIV and AIDS signed at a High Level Meeting on ending AIDS (8-10 June 2016, UN Headquarters in New York) and has stressed the high priority being attached by Ukraine to its implementation.
The participation of Ukraine in the meeting is ensured by the representatives of the Ukrainian Center for Socially Dangerous Disease Control of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine as well as the Permanent Mission of Ukraine in Geneva.
