On June 30, 2015 the 36th meeting of the Coordinating Board of the United Nations Joint Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) started its work in Geneva and will continue until July 2, 2015. Ukraine is the PCB Bureau Rapporteur for the year 2015.
The event is focused on the current state of the fight against HIV/AIDS in the UN Post-2015 Development Agenda; report on the consultative process of the preparation of the UNAIDS 2016-2021 Strategy; follow-up to the thematic segment from the 35th PCB meeting; strategic human resources management issues as well as the performance monitoring in implementing the UNAIDS Unified Budget, Results and Accountability Framework.
In its statement during the event the Ukrainian delegation emphasized, inter alia, on the timeliness of the UNAIDS fast-track approach in combating HIV/AIDS on the background of growing violation, xenophobia and radical extremism. It was stressed on the main Ukraine interest’s focusing on the discussion concerning the thematic segment on HIV in emergencies. The information exchange on the respective lessons learned is expected to contribute to create the new response mechanisms in the present circumstances.
The participation of Ukraine in the meeting is ensured by the representatives of the Ukrainian Center for Socially Dangerous Disease Control of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine as well as the Permanent Mission of Ukraine in Geneva.
