On November 12, 2014 the Sixteenth Annual Conference of the High Contracting Parties to Amended Protocol II on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Mines, Booby-Traps and Other Devices of the Convention on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Certain Conventional Weapons Which May Be Deemed to Be Excessively Injurious or to Have Indiscriminate Effects (CCW) takes place in Geneva.
During the event its participants discuss issues related to the universalization and implementation of the Protocol, in particular in the context of improving the methods and ways of preventing the use of improvised explosive devices and taking measures to assist their victims.
Y.Klymenko, Permanent Representative of Ukraine in Geneva in his speech informed about the work done by the Ukrainian side in the realization of the aforementioned document, drew attention to the problem of usage of improvised explosive devices by terrorist groups in the southeast of Ukraine, and appealed to the international community to continue providing assistance to our country in their disposing.
