The 26th session of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) commenced its work at the Palais des Nations in Geneva on June 10, 2014.
During its 3-week session the Council will hear presentations from 20 mandate holders of the HRC Special procedures, in particular, reports by the Commission on Inquiry on Syria and by the Special Rapporteur on Belarus, and will convene a number of interactive discussions on pressing human rights issues.
Besides, the Council will hold general debates on human rights situations that require the Council’s attention, and will also approve the outcomes of the Universal Periodic Reviews of the 14 countries examined in January-February 2014. As a result of the session, the HRC will take action on initiated resolutions and decisions.
The delegation of Ukraine represented by the Permanent Mission of Ukraine in Geneva participates in the work of the session.
