Today, May 19,2014 the Sixty-seventh session of the World Health Assembly began its work in Palais des Nations in Geneva.
The Assembly will consider a number of pressing issues in health sector, such as prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases, global strategy and targets for tuberculosis prevention, care and control after 2015, strengthening of palliative care etc. Participants of the Assembly will also discuss the topic of reforming the World Health Organization (WHO).
Upon the results of the Assembly a number of decisions and resolutions will be adopted.
The event is attended by the delegations of over 180 WHO member-states, most of which are represented at the ministerial level. Delegation of Ukraine at the 67th WHA is headed by the Minister of Health of Ukraine Oleh Musii.
The Assembly will work till May 24, 2014.
