On May 8 Mr. Yurii Klymenko, the Permanent Representative of Ukraine in Geneva met with Dr. Hamadoun Touré, the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) with participation of Dr. Ievgen Khairov, First Deputy Head of Ukrainian State Centre of Radio Frequencies.
The actual issues of Ukraine-ITU interaction and the prospects for its further development were discussed. In this connection the attention of Secretary-General was drawn, in particular, to the decision of the Government of Ukraine to nominate the candidature of I.Khairov to the ITU Radio Regulations Board at the elections to be held during the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference (October-November 2014, Busan, Republic of Korea).
At the same time the Permanent Representative informed H.Touré about the current situation in Ukraine, steps being taken by the Ukrainian authorities aimed at ensuring the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state, as well as the efforts of the Government directed at restoring its economy and realizing imminent reforms.
