Y.Klymenko, the Permanent Representative of Ukraine meets M.Kituyi, the Secretary-General of the UNCTAD

On March 6 Mr. Yurii Klymenko, the Permanent Representative of Ukraine in Geneva, met with Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi, the Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).  

The Permanent Representative informed about the current situation in Ukraine, steps being taken by the Ukrainian leadership aimed at ensuring the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state, as well as the efforts of the Government directed at restoring its economy and realizing imminent reforms. On his part, the Secretary-General of the UNCTAD assured the proper support of  Ukraine on its way towards modernization.

The actual issues of Ukraine-UNCTAD interaction and the prospects for its further development were discussed. In this regard Y.Klymenko expressed M.Kituyi gratitude for technical assistance provided to our state, particularly in the context of the ongoing Ukraine’s Competition Policy Peer Review, performed by the UNCTAD. The Ukrainian side also expressed interest, taking into account the current financial and economic situation in our country, in expanding the cooperation and launching new projects within the UNCTAD existing programs, in particular, the Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA).
