The Committee on Sustainable Energy of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe has started its two days 22^nd Session in Geneva on 21 November, 2013.

The main theme for this year Committee session is “Securing Sustainable Energy Supply: Time to Act”. In particular, within the framework of panel discussions there will be considered issues on achieving sustainable energy for all in the in th UNECE region, reliable and stable transit of energy resources and its role in ensuring sustainable development and international cooperation: contribution of UNECE, reducing carbon intensity in the energy sector, new role for gas in a green economy.

Also, during the Committee session a new composition of the Bureau of the Committee will be elected for 2014.

It is planned that the participants of the session will consider and adopt the Programme of work of the Committee for 2014–2015.

The experts of the Ministry of Industrial Policy of Ukraine, the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine and the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the UN Office in Geneva participate in the annual session of the Committee.
