The Meeting of Experts of the States Parties to the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production and Stockpiling of Bacteriological (Biological) and Toxin Weapons Convention (BWC) will be held from 12 to 16 August 2013 in Geneva.
The Meeting involves delegations from 170 States Parties, as well as the representatives of observer countries and several international organizations, including the World Health Organization, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, Interpol, the International Committee of the Red Cross etc.
Ukraine is represented by official delegation, headed by Permanent Representative of Ukraine in Geneva, Ambassador Mykola Maimeskul, which includes experts from the Ministry of Health, State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service, State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service, as well as from the National Academy of Sciences and National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.
In accordance with the decision of the Seventh Review Conference, the Meeting of Experts will address key agenda items: cooperation and assistance, with a particular focus on strengthening cooperation and assistance under Article X; review of developments in the field of science and technology related to the Convention; strengthening national implementation, etc.
